The best thing about being in the OM trade is the platform it gives us to meet inspirational people . . .
People like Brian Armstrong.
Brian is a recent acquaintance and a card-carrying OM enthusiast.
You see, the connective Connecticuter is a firm believer in the things that drive our efforts here in Saunderstown.
Chiefly, that we all have it in us to make a difference in the lives of others and that doing our bit to help those around us ranks amongst our most-important duties as human beings.
Brian spearheads a service that is known as Synergy, a group that exists to help and support families, in particular those struggling with disabilities, and the problems that difficulties social, emotional and behavioural tend to lead to.
It is a service that doesn’t discriminate and that has inclusion at its core . . . .

Such things speak loud and clear to us all, here in our studio in Rhode Island.
In recent weeks, we’ve spent a great deal of time with Brian and his charges, lending our expertise – and, more importantly, our OMs – to aid Synergy’s efforts. It has proved an inspirational experience.
You see, Brian has proved that, no matter our differences, we are all connected.
Take our recent trips to StoneRidge Senior Living Community, for instance . . . .
Here, not far from Mystic, Brian and countless children taking part in a life-changing summer program have joined StoneRidge residents and staff for activities that include art, music, yoga and play.
The children involved have various developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities and learning disabilities. Yet under Brian’s astute leadership, all have thrived.
The seniors too, for whom the connections made this summer have proved a remarkable experience. We should know, we’ve seen it at first hand.
Last week, we led a crafting workshop at StoneRidge, the participants using clay to make their own OMs. On our previous visit, those taking part painted OMs made right here in our studio. On both occasions, all involved had a wonderful time, none more so than us.



This is what we’re about, it’s what our OMs are for . . . .
Bringing people together. Young and old. Those with needs. Those there to help them.
For this, we have Brian and his team to thank. For sharing this with us. For further opening our eyes. For adding to the inspiration that is poured into all the OMs made in our studio.
To Brian, we send our utmost appreciation. To you, we’d like to share this story, about starfish, that underlines all that is important to us.
To quote the accompanying notes, ‘[This] is a classic story, about the power of each of us to make a difference in the lives of others . . . . we are here for each other and should seek to help, even in small ways, whenever we can’.
